Fastball Baseball Pitch Sports Art For Sale

Photograph of sports artist John Robertson standing next to a huge baseball art showing how a pitcher grips and places his fingers on a baseball in order to throw a fastball.

Fastball baseball pitch painting by sports artist John Roberson is 51” x 69” acrylic on unstretched canvas.  This means no stretcher bars or frame.  The painting is meant to be hung like a banner or tapestry but can be easily be stretched and framed for a more formal look. Please notice in the photo that the edges of the canvas are uneven and sometimes frayed with staple marks in the canvas.  This is intentional to give the painting a casual, used and worn look.

Gripping a Fastball

Actually there is a couple of ways to throw a fastball – one is called a two seamer and tand another is called a four seamer.  The difference is how the pitcher grips and places his fingers on the seams.  In the two seamers the fingers your index and middle fingers are placed directly on top of the narrow seams of the baseball.  In the four seamers, (which this baseball painting portrays) you place your index and middle fingertips directly on the perpendicular seam of the baseball.  The two seam baseball pitch is considered a “movement pitch” where the four seamer is considered a straight pitch, hopefully with less movement around.
